Covenant Bank & Trust Our Beginnings

Covenant Bank and Trust is a community bank organized by a group of local leaders who saw a need for a new bank to be established with a borad base of shareholders. The formation process began in 2005, taking about eighteen months to complete.

A management team consisting of: Trent Sanford, President/CEO; Janice Sherrill, CFO; and Mitch Sanford, Senior Lender was hired to head the new start-up bank. The team brought with them years of experience in banking in the North Georgia area.

The bank opened its' doors in a temporary location on Highway 27 in Rock Spring on June 12, 2006. The first shareholder's meeting followed on June 14, 2006 where the board of directors was elected.

Members of the board of directors include: Billy Neil Ellis, chairman; Don Boggus, Randy Bohanon, Render Cash, Tom Durkan III, Pat Hamilton, Kent Sanford, Trent Sanford, Billy Teems, Bobby Teems and Jackie Teeters.

Under the leadership of a dedicated group of management, support staff and directors, Covenant Bank grew to over $64 million in assets by the end of the first year of operation.

Due to the success of the bank, operations extended to Whitfield County in 2007. A loan processing office headed by veteran banker, Daniel P. Davis opened February 5th, 2007.
